After her four-day program in Los Angeles, Amma arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for another four-day program at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town. Huge crowds assembled to receive Amma’s darshan, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Guru Purnima.

The celebrations began with a satsang by Swami Amritaswarpananda Puri, Amma’s most senior disciple, on the greatness of the Guru. Amma then led bhajans, meditation, and world peace prayers.

Pujya Swamiji conducted the ceremonial worship of the Guru, with devotees deeply absorbed in the rituals, expressing heartfelt gratitude. Swamis and Swaminis garlanded Amma and received her blessings on behalf of everyone.

Addressing the gathering, Amma spoke on the significance of Guru Purnima.

“Human life is intended for an exalted goal. Each individual possesses at least a subtle awareness of the divinity within. Every human life is a quest for this divinity. In one way or another, every human being is continually searching for that completeness. However, currently, we are searching for that inner completeness in the external world.

“The source of happiness and love is within us—in the True Self, the ātmā. Unfortunately, we are under the delusion that we are this perishable body. We are in the darkness of ignorance of our true nature. The guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance and shines the light of true knowledge.”

Amma distributed prasad to all participants and gave darshan to the thousands who attended. Amma and her tour group are now set to travel to Washington for the next program.

After her New York program, Amma arrived in Chicago for the final event of this year’s US Tour. The three-day program was held at MA Center Chicago, where the elation and joy of devotees, seeing Amma in their city after a five-year hiatus, were clearly visible on their faces.

Jeffrey Walter, the Mayor of the Village of Elburn, Illinois, garlanded Amma and read out a proclamation declaring August 10th, 2024, as “Amma Day” in the Village of Elburn. The proclamation honored Amma’s extraordinary contributions to humanity and her unwavering commitment to fostering peace and unity.

A key event was the launch of the Amrita Institute of Advanced Research (AIAR). In another expression of boundless compassion, it is Amma’s first research institute in the United States.

Dr Bharat Jayaraman and Dr Venu Govindaraju, both with the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY), felicitated the event. In 2010, Amma received her first honorary degree from SUNY.

They expressed gratitude to Amma for her commitment to #humanitarian-based #research that uplifts all socio-economic levels of our world.

Shashank Priya, Vice President for Research and Innovation at the University of Minnesota, also garlanded Amma and announced the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the University of Minnesota. The MoU document was exchanged in Amma’s presence.

Throughout the three days, Amma delivered satsangs, sang bhajans, and conducted guided meditation and prayers for world peace. She gave darshan to thousands, blessing them with her divine, solace-giving embrace.

Among the VIPs who received Amma’s blessings was Raja Krishnamoorthi, U.S. Representative for Illinois’s 8th Congressional District.

The three-day program marked the end of the US leg of Amma’s 2024 tour. Amma is now proceeding to Japan for a program in Tokyo, after which she will return to Amritapuri.

After her program in Washington DC, Amma arrived in Boston for a three-day program at the Best Western Royal Plaza and Trade Center in Massachusetts. Thousands flocked from all parts of Boston from the early hours of the morning.

During the program, Amma gave satsangs, conducted prayers for world peace and harmony, and guided meditations. Thousands received Amma’s darshan, experiencing her divine presence.

The event also featured a special performance of African dance traditions in Amma’s presence, adding a unique cultural touch to the proceedings.

After the programs in Boston, Amma heads to New York for her next event.

Amma arrived in Tokyo for a three-day program following her 40-day tour across eight cities in North America. The event was held at Bellesalle Takadanobaba Hall in Shinjuku, Tokyo, where people from all around the region gathered in large numbers to attend. The joy and excitement of receiving Amma in their city after a five-year gap were evident on the faces of the devotees.

Amma was warmly welcomed by Shri Sibi George, the Indian Ambassador to Japan, and his wife. In his welcome address, Shri Sibi George highlighted how, as a diplomat, he has witnessed Amma’s efforts to connect the East and West through her message of love and peace. He praised Amma’s life as a shining example of the ideal, “Manava Seva is Madhava Seva” (Service to Humanity is Service to God).

Amma also initiated Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s tree-planting campaign, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (One Tree in the Name of Mother), in Tokyo by planting a sapling in the presence of the Indian Ambassador. Dr. Elisabeth Bertagnoli, the Austrian Ambassador to Japan, also welcomed Amma and participated in the distribution of Tulsi trees to Japan Ayudh youth members as part of the Green Friends initiative.

During the three-day program, Amma conducted meditation sessions, offered prayers for world peace, and sang soul-uplifting bhajans. Thousands of people thronged to receive Amma’s motherly embrace, and as always, Amma tirelessly continued giving darshan day and night until every person received her blessings.

Among those who came for Amma’s darshan was Dewi Sukarno, a famous Japanese celebrity. Amma’s Japan devotees also performed a Baduga dance (a South Indian tribal folk dance) during the darshan, much to Amma’s delight.

With the conclusion of this three-day program in Japan, Amma’s US and Japan Tour 2024 came to an end. Amma and her tour crew will now return to Amritapuri.
